Down the Long Road of Grief.

If you have a dog, you will most likely outlive it; to get a dog is to open yourself to profound joy and, prospectively, to equally profound sadness.

Stalin's personalized pendant.

The pendant that he used to wear with his collar is now tied to a silver chain... and hangs around my neck.

Our names at the back of the pendant.

It's exactly a month today since Stalin passed away, but until now everything feels surreal. Most days, I'd still wish that this is all just a bad dream. Something that would go away when I wake up in the morning.

Sharing with This or That Thursday, and lots of Wordless Wednesdays.

  3. That's so sad!

I've never known the feeling of a lost pet. I've always liked them. But I could never have one. I'm off the scale with allergies. My parents had one when I was little, but I kept getting REALLY sick and they had to give them up. :(

  5. I feel for you! I've lost so many pups in my early years, that's why I stopped getting my own for a while. But my siblings got new dogs, and I started to fall in love with our new babies na.. They can really be your most treasured and most loyal friends. =)

  9. Stalin must be a very good dog that you can't get over his passing. We had a dog once who is very close to the family too. He died of old age. His name was Angelito.

  12. I am so sorry you lost your beloved Stalin. I think about that from time to time knowing that I will outlive my two yorkies. It always puts me in a state of panic to be honest. My husband was most decisively not a dog lover until them and from day 1 that he had them in his home he was hooked. I wish I could say it would get better but do try to remember all the joy he brought you.

  13. I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is like loosing a family member.. worse even. It's been a while since we have lost a "family member", however with 3 of our 4 doggies being over eleven years old... I know that day will be soon. Blessings to you my dear friend.

  21. so sorry for you loss! We don't have a dog, but I think my husband would be lost if we ever lost our cat. it's amazing how a little animal can work their way so deeply into one's heart.

Again, so sorry for your loss.

  24. Aww Miss Czjai :-( Losing our beloved dog can really be heartbreaking. We had a dog, who I was so fond of, who got lost when I was 11 years old. It made me cry for 1 week and left me extremely lonely even a few weeks after it happened. I'm so sorry about your loss. You deserve a big cyberhug...
