A Moissanite is a naturally occurring mineral found in very limited quantities in the earth. They were first discovered in 1893 by Nobel Prize-winning scientist Dr. Henri Moissan, from whom its name was derived.
A century later, Charles & Colvard® patented the innovative high-tech process that creates this jewel with such brilliance and hardness, making it at par (perhaps even better) with a real diamond.
These synthetic diamond earrings from Moissanite, for instance, sell for a fraction of the cost of a real diamond. Tagged at a little over a thousand dollars, this pair, along with many other jewelry pieces can be found at the Moissanite website.

While a Moissanite does not replicate the exact same look of a diamond, it's a good option to consider for those who choose not to buy the real deal due to budgetary reasons.
I've never of of Moissanite before. I always learn something new on yur blog :) Those are pretty.
ReplyDeleteThey have something similar here and it is certainly much cheaper then a real diamond and looks the same. It's something I will consider as it's not point spending so much on jewellery.

ReplyDeletelovely post. it's a perfect gift idea too come Mother's day. For a change, we must give pearls a rest and hand Mums a cultured diamond or moissanite at the very least. They deserve it for all the hard work.
ReplyDeleteI first heard of about moissanite back when I was in college but never really purchased one. It's a good alternative to the pricier diamond. :)
