That's exactly what Chael Sonnen did in UFC Fight Night 26, when he beat Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua with a first round submission.
In front of more than 12,000 fans in Boston's TD Garden, Sonnen proved that there's more to his trash-talking and unpredictable shticks. Using his impressive wrestling skills, he took Rua down early on in the round, and they pretty much stayed on the mat the entire time.
Rua, a former light heavyweight champion, managed to defend himself and got back on his feet. And just when you thought the odds have turned in favor of the Brazilian, the American Gangster got a standing guillotine, brought it down, and locked it tight. And at 4:47 of the first round, Rua (who happens to be a black belter in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), tapped out.

He was a bit 'tamer' however, in the post-fight press conference. When asked how he felt about snapping his two-fight losing streak, Sonnen answered, "It feels good because it's Shogun."
Check out the pink ribbon! Originally posted on my Instagram. :) |
And boy, do I feel good.
And why not? I am perhaps the biggest Chael Sonnen fan in this country, if not the world. So yeah, my happiness is beyond the stars.
Congrats Chael Sonnen!
And to all the other winners in UFC Fight Night 26 - Travis Browne, Urijah Faber, Matt Brown - kudos to you, too! You've all made me a happy fangirl. :)

The good part about UFC is anything can happen anytime especially when it comes to submission finishes.
You and my bro will have tons of stuff to talk about when it comes to UFC. He loves watching this and I can't even bare to look at our screen. I admire you for writing such posts. :)
I agree, Franc! Anything can happen in the Octagon. :)
Thanks, Yette! I'm probably the only blogger in our group who dares to write about stuff like these, haha!
UFC is rough and exciting! I need to watch more often so I know who these guys are! :)
I have never been into watching sports of any kind--not that my Dad didn't try to get me interested in watching baseball with him--just isn't me. I am happy for you that the person you wanted to win won-and I think more of him cause he is wearing a pink ribbon!
wow! You're really into this. Only reason I know about any of this is because my brother won't stop talking about it! Thanks for the highlight! I'll definitely show him this!
wow! you watch UFC pala sis? :D I used to watch UFC nung nasa Zamboanga pa ako kase I'd usually watch it together with my dad or bf :D
Hi Rhea! Big, big fan of the UFC - and Chael Sonnen and Georges St. Pierre in particular. Won't miss an event for the world, haha!

Congratulations to your favoriate---sorry I really know NOTHING about UFC but I know how happy one feels when their team or favorite athlete does a spectacular job!
am a big mixed martial arts fan and would be more glad if you could share the video link of this match to watch.
I never watched UFC until my fiance introduced me to it. He isn't a huge fan but likes to watch when it's on and I have really come to respect UFC as the difficult, competitive sport it is.
