Maybe because it was the weather, or because my birthday is fast approaching, but I was feeling nostalgic today. So nostalgic that I actually went through my old blog at
Livejournal. Reading my posts made me miss the corporate world
(I used to work for a telecommunications company), drinking and partying after work, not staying home at weekends
(I was a complete wanderlust back then), spending and shopping like crazy without a care in the world
(well, I still do this though not very often, lol).
Ah, I miss my twenties! Life was a lot simpler back then. And it was so easy for me to pack my bags and travel wherever I want. Now that I have a child of my own, and I have household expenses to consider, traveling has become a bit, well, challenging.
Anyway, since I'm doing this little trip down to memory lane, I'm reposting my Singapore adventure from eight years back. And by reposting, I mean I'm copy-pasting my post from Livejournal, haha.
Take me back to Singapore! :)

The Merlion. |
More photos and stories after the jump!
My brother is the most excited with this trip since it's his first time out-of-the-country. He wanted pictures of him everywhere.
|
Like beside this sign at the Centennial Airport. |
|
And while waiting for the boarding call. |
|
He even asked Mum to take a video of him, lol! |
Mum also had her share of camwhore moments.
|
Like when we arrived at the Changi Airport.
And yes, she took one of each of those pamphlets. |
|
Here's my 'welcome to Singapore' moment. |
From the airport, we headed straight to the
Grand Central Hotel - our home for the next two days. Our room was quite spacious, though there was nothing special about it.
The telly had very few channels, and there was no ESPN or Star Sports. So I spent my time thumbing through these reading materials instead.
|
The Singapore Shopping Guide = my survival kit! |
My sister, who was the main purpose of our visit, arrived around 7-ish that evening. She came from her work at the
Arena Country Club, where she was an intern.
|
Went straight to Mum's luggage for her gifts. :) |
Meanwhile, I was preparing myself for a night-out at Orchard Road.
|
I was taking selfies before the term 'selfie' was even coined. |
|
Matching hoodies! |
|
Photo-op in front of the hotel. |
We had dinner at S11, a kind of foodcourt located at the heart of Orchard Road. After the tummy-fill, we checked out the Orchard Central, the Centrepoint, and the three 7-Eleven stores on the block.
|
Orchard Road at night. |
The next morning, we had buffet breakfast at the hotel.
|
Potato wedges, chicken sausages, scrambled eggs, and fried noodles. |
We were scheduled to go to Sentosa that morning. And Sentosa we did! :)
|
At the dock. |
|
Aboard the cable car. |
|
Sentosa, here we come! |
The first thing we did was shop for goodies at the
Mount Faber Souvenir Shop.
|
Sentosa! |
|
Walking down the lane... |
|
My brother had a close encounter with a snake. |
|
Yaiks! |
|
A nice Indian tourist took our family photo. |
Of course, we had to take photos with
The Merlion.
|
Inside the Merlion's mouth. :) |
|
This was the view from the Merlion. |
We then walked along the
Herb and Spice Garden and took more pictures, of course.
|
More ways to enjoy the view. |
More of our Singapore adventure on the
next post! :)

IT looks beautiful. I've heard there are a lot of rules and regulations in Singapore, pretty strict, is that true?

Wow what a trip! great pictures to give us a good idea of your trip.
I remember when life was easier too. :) It looks like you had so much fun but at the same time I'm sure the party life gets boring the older you get. I wouldn't know, never been a party person.
Looks like a really fun trip. I may have to put Singapore down as a must see. I don't know about the big yellow snake though.
